I really like this photoset, but why is the first box just black?

Seriously. Did the artist just get lazy and skip one?

Ugh, you guys, it’s the shadows. But you can’t see shadows on the dark background. Honestly, what else could it be?

Unless it’s portraying the night sky when the stars have gone out.

I just don’t see any other explanation.
