Zachary Quinto & Jonathan Groff ‘Make A Fantastic Couple’

In an interview with gay glossy Out, Pine discussed playing gay in the 2006 TV movie-of-the-week Surrender, Dorothy. “My first intimate scene [onscreen] was with Tom Everett Scott,” Pine said. “He’s an incredible spooner – very warm, very sensitive.”
Pine also said that he knew that Quinto, who plays a young Spock in the latest Star Trek reboot, was gay “from the moment I met him.”

“It was just who Zach was and that’s that. I’m sensitive, and I don’t ever want to make anyone feel uncomfortable. Knowing that for Zach it was more about a career thing and that he was not comfortable at the time coming out – it was fine. It was something that we kind of tiptoed around and I just took it as a given, because that’s what he wanted.”

Pine called Quinto’s 2011 coming out “rad”.
“It was really, really cool. He did it on his own time, on his own schedule. And Jonathan [Groff], who he’s dating, is such a lovely man. He’s a good guy and a great actor, and they make a fantastic couple. I couldn’t have been happier for Zach.”

god i love this because like you can tell when the writers were writing these lines they were meant to be like dark sarcastic and witty but hugh dancy plays it SO COMPLETELY DIFFERENTLY like the way he delivers these lines makes will sound like he’s just desperately trying to be funny and make jokes to put people at ease but he’s so shaky and twitchy that it just makes everyone around him VISIBLY MORE ON EDGE like it’s completely unthreatening and not at all biting you’re just kind of like william what the HELL don’t SAY things like that it’s WEIRD and i fucking love that because it’s so much truer to life!!! things sound way better in your head!!! hugh fancy you’re ok you’re ok in my book hugh fancy

Knowing Gene he had to take that challenge, and so he met with her. She said, ‘I just wanted you to tell me why you don’t want me in Star Trek.’

Gene said, ‘Well, I’ll just ask you one question and I’ll make my decision on that. You’re a big screen star, why do you want to be on a little screen, why do you want to be in Star Trek?’

And she looked at him and she said, ‘Well, it’s all Nichelle Nichols’ fault.’

That threw him, he said, ‘What do you mean?’

She said, ‘Well when I was nine years old Star Trek came on,’ and she said, ‘I looked at it and I went screaming through the house, “Come here, mum, everybody, come quick, come quick, there’s a black lady on television and she ain’t no maid!”’ And she said, ‘I knew right then and there I could be anything I wanted to be, and I want to be on Star Trek.’

And he said, ‘I’ll write you a role.’
